I am halfway through "Bad Pharma" from B. Goldacre and feeling amazed, horrified and angry at almost equal measures. I always assumed that the Pharma companies were not the sisters of mercy but I could have not ever imagined the extent of their manipulations to get approval for their drugs. Also the subtle ways in which trials can be tweaked to give wanted results and the monstrous habit of hiding reports that do not give positive results for the drugs tested. I agree with the author that the system needs a complete overhaul which must lead to fully transparent practices and complete publication of every trial.
What a great book. I'll keep commenting about it.
